Operation Cancun Honeymoon
Let's Send Purple Heart Recipient Cpl. Aaron Mankin And Mrs. Mankin To Mexico.
While serving as a Marine combat correspondent in Iraq, then Lance Corporal Mankin found himself one day in the heat of battle, riding in an assault vehicle and doing his job as the grunts fought, which was to record and write about the war. North Carolina Korean War Veterans
The North Carolina Korean War Memorial will be located at the Park on Fairview, 8850 Fairview Road-Mint Hill, NC. The Memorial is slated for completion no later than June 2009. The cost of the memorial is $250,000, and fundraising events to pay for the project are ongoing.
The memorial design is to resemble the South Korean Flag. It will have an open design through which people can walk. The circle of the memorial will be 60' with a 45' walkway up the center.
The material will be granite with four black pillars in the center. The names of 784 North Carolinians either killed or missing in action will be on the pillars. The center of the circle will be the Korean Yin Yang with water trickling down into it. At either end of the memorial will be statues of American soldiers wearing ponchos.
YOU can become a contributor- by recognizing and honoring all the men and women who served our country in Korea- especially North Carolina's fallen 784 sons.
You may honor the veteran of any American war by purchasing a granite paver for the "Walkway of Rememberance".
Please visit the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 265- website for more information on how you can help honor our finest AND help heal the wounds that no one sees.
